From June 1 to 3, 2025, the 81st Annual General Meeting of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the World Air Transport Summit (WATS) took place in New Delhi, India. The event brought together over 1,700 delegates, including aviation industry leaders, government officials, and media representatives.

Uzbekistan Airways, the national carrier of Uzbekistan, took an active part in the gathering, holding a series of meetings with key partners and discussing prospects for expanding international cooperation. Particular focus was placed on fleet expansion, enhancement of the airline’s transit potential across its route network, the adoption of digital technologies, and continued improvement of passenger service quality.

During the official segment on June 2, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, and the Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, addressed attendees. They highlighted India’s commitment to developing aviation infrastructure and strengthening global ties in the air transport sector. Notably, they announced plans to expand the number of airports in India to 200, reduce the cost of domestic flights, and boost collaboration with foreign carriers.

One of the key outcomes of the forum was the signing of an interline agreement between Uzbekistan Airways and Air India. This agreement opens new opportunities for tourism and business travel between the two countries and strengthens Uzbekistan Airways’ presence in South Asia.

Representatives of Uzbekistan Airways also took part in strategic sessions organized by IATA, focused on sustainable development, digital transformation in aviation, and enhancing flight safety. On the sidelines of the forum, meetings were held with several international carriers and industry organizations to discuss bilateral cooperation.

Uzbekistan Airways’ participation in the IATA AGM demonstrates its strong commitment to integration into the global aviation community, its ambition to become a regional leader, and its ongoing efforts to improve service quality.
