Important information for passengers flying to Kuala Lumpur

In order to enter Malaysia, it’s necessary to fill out a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) online from December 1, 2023. We recommend you to do it three days prior to arrival at https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main. The document must be filled out in English.

The rule does not apply to passengers traveling in transit, passing through Singapore without obtaining an immigration permit, permanent residents of Malaysia and the Malaysian Automated Clearance System.

On the MDAC form, passengers must indicate the date of arrival, date of departure, mode of transport (air, land or sea) and the final destination. Malaysia's entry requirements require visitors to present both their passports and a completed MDAC to the immigration officer on duty upon arrival.

Visitors from 10 countries (Australia, Brunei, Germany, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, USA and UK) will be able to use automatic gates when arriving and leaving KLIA Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. To use KLIA automatic gates for immigration control, they must have passports with a validity of six months or more. First-time visitors will not be able to use the automatic gates on their first trip as their passports must be checked at a manual counter manned by immigration officers. These visitors can use the automatic gates upon arrival and departure only for subsequent visits (if their MDAC will still need to be submitted three days before each visit to Malaysia) and only after they have successfully registered to use the automatic gates for immigration control.
