Uzbekistan is taking measures to prevent the spread  of coronavirus infection, closely monitoring the situation in foreign countries. By the Decision of a special republican commission, “Uzbekistan Airways” JSC announces the cancellation of flights to Japan until the sanitary and epidemiological situation in this country improves. Air traffic between the countries was suspended in 2020.

It is important to note that Uzbekistan and Japan have been strategic business partners for many years. For “Uzbekistan Airways” JSC, flights to Tokyo are also a priority, and for more than 20 years, air traffic has been carried out on routes from Uzbekistan to Japan. Thanks to the work of the airline representatives, during the seasons of high demand, it was possible not only to establish regular flights, but also to ensure a stable passenger load of aircraft in different cities of Japan, providing flights between Tashkent and Samarkand and such Japanese cities as Narita, Nagoya, Fukushima, Osaka, Sendai , Sapporo, Hiroshima.

From 2015 to 2019 period, over 500 flights were carried out between Uzbekistan and Japan, and the number of passengers during this period amounted to more than 72,000 people. At the same time, with the increase in the number of flights and taking into account their profitability, the geography of flights within Japan also expanded, which made it possible to increase the passenger traffic between the cities of the country from year to year, as well as taking into account the ensuring of the profitability of flights.

Partial flight restoration is planned for the 2022 spring-summer navigation period.

Regular flights between Uzbekistan and Japan are planned to resume after the stabilization of the epidemiological situation in the countries.
