On the sidelines of the 81st General Assembly of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), held in Delhi, a significant agreement was signed between the national carriers of Uzbekistan and India. Uzbekistan Airways and Air India concluded an interline agreement that opens new opportunities for convenient and seamless travel between the two countries—and beyond.

Under the terms of the agreement, Uzbekistan Airways passengers can now book through-tickets via Indira Gandhi International Airport in India for onward connections with Air India to over 30 domestic destinations, including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, and Kochi. This partnership allows passengers to enjoy single-ticket booking, baggage check-through to their final destination, and boarding pass issuance for the entire journey at their initial departure airport.

Uzbekistan Airways operates flights to over 90 destinations worldwide, including the only transcontinental route between Central Asia and the U.S. among CIS airlines—Tashkent–New York–Tashkent. Currently, the airline offers regular flights from Tashkent to Delhi and Mumbai, as well as seasonal flights to Goa.

Commenting on the significance of the new agreement, Alisher Sattarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways, stated:

“Our cooperation with Air India opens new horizons for our passengers. This agreement is not just about expanding our route network—it is a strategic step toward building a more integrated, accessible, and convenient air travel system between Central and South Asia. We are confident that this partnership will enable more travelers to discover Uzbekistan and India—two countries rich in culture and growing in tourism and business potential.”

Air India also welcomed the new partnership:

“These new interline partnership significantly enhance Air India’s global reach and open seamless pathways to vibrant cities across some of the most important emerging markets of today,” said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India. “Our partnerships with Uzbekistan Airways, bring more travel options and smoother journeys for our growing base of customers worldwide as well as reinforce India’s rising status as a key global aviation hub,” also mentioned Nipun Aggarwal.
