Silk Avia operated its first flight from Tashkent to Kokand

Today, March 22, Silk Avia operated its first passenger flight on the route Tashkent Kokand - Tashkent on an ATR 72-600 aircraft.

The new aircraft, which was recently added to the Silk Avia fleet, was met at the Kokand airport by residents of the Fergana region, Kokand, and the general public. The event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments of the Republic of Uzbekistan, management of the national airline, journalists and media representatives.

Khokim of the Fergana region Khairullo Bozarov and Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov noted the attention paid by the President and the government to the development of each region of the country. The speakers emphasized the work done in recent years in the field of transport and logistics, especially in civil aviation. The restoration of previously operating airports in the regions will lead to the opening of flights. Accessibility to quickly reach the desired locations is a great opportunity for economic development and, most importantly, domestic tourism, both in the region and in the country.

The guests solemnly opened the airport complex under the national music of Karnai-Surnai, and also “kicked off” the entertainment program.

The regional airline Silk Avia, part of Uzbekistan Airways group, opened a new page in the history of civil aviation in Uzbekistan by operating its first passenger flight from Tashkent to Kokand. The crew of the ATR 72-600 aircraft, Sergey Tkach and Semyon Oreshen, landed at the renovated airport in Kokand city, Fergana region. Aircrafts of this type allow you to safely and comfortably transport passengers over short distances. Travel time from Tashkent to Kokand was 35 minutes.

The airport has reconstructed a runway with an extension of up to 2000 meters and an apron with two parking lots for aircraft. It was also built a new terminal with an area of ​​900 square meters designed for 100 people.

The technical flight performed on March 20 by the Uzbekistan Airways crew on an A320neo showed the airfield’s full readiness to receive and release aircraft, as well as receive passengers and further service at the terminal. The launch of regular flights on the route Tashkent – ​​Kokand – Tashkent is expected to be launched soon.

For information, flights to Kokand have not been operated for more than 20 years, and on the eve of the spring holiday of Navruz, another direction for travel within the Republic of Uzbekistan has opened for residents of Tashkent and Kokand.
